NEW YORK STATE OFFERS “FREE FISHING DAY: Sat., 9/26/2026

In recognition of “National Hunting and Fishing Day”, New York State will be offering a Free Fishing Day on Saturday, September 26, 2026.  That means if you’re 16 and older, you don’t need a fishing license on this day.  What better way to end the summer than a day on the water fishing with family and friends?  This is a great opportunity to give it a try if you’ve never fished before or have in the past but want to pick it back up again. Even though a fishing license isn’t required, all other freshwater fishing regulations remain in effect.

There is one remaining “Free Fishing Day” this year:  Tuesday, November 11 (Veterans Day).
