LEAF PICKUP & BRANCH PICKUP BEGINS OCTOBER 1ST

The Town of Binghamton Highway Dept. will be picking up leaves and branches simultaneously again this year.  Pickups will begin on Thursday, October 1st and will continue, weather permitting, until the snow flies.  THERE IS NO NEED TO CALL FOR A PICKUP. 

Due to the overwhelming response to these services, you will not be given a specific time or day when your leaves and/or brush will be picked up.  Just put separate piles at the curb and wait for a pickup.  Crews will be making regular rounds throughout the Town.  PILES THAT ARE MIXED WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.  Here are the details for each:

LEAF PICKUP GUIDELINES
There are certain guidelines we ask you to follow:

1.    Do not put leaves in bags!
2.    Rake the leaves to the edge of the road or top of the curb in front of your home.  Do not rake
them into the ditch or into the roadway.
3.    Leaves must be free of branches, rocks, pinecones, animal waste, and other debris.
4.    Only branches originating from your yard will be accepted.  If you hire someone to clean up your
yard, they are responsible for the removal of leaves, etc.

TREE BRANCH PICKUP GUIDELINES 

Here are the guidelines to be followed:

1.  Only branches originating from your yard will be accepted.
2.  Place branches neatly along the roadside with the large ends facing the road.  Leave branches as long as      possible.
3.  Brush from lot clearing, contractors, or landscapers will not be collected.
4.  Tree trunks, roots, thorny brush, small twigs, garden or flower-bed clippings, leaves and animal waste
will not be accepted as branch material.
5.  Please keep all piles clear of mailboxes, utility poles, fire hydrants, drainage areas, and other
obstructions.
